Strawberry season started today! Summer weather also arrived yesterday. We spent about a half hour harvesting plump warm strawberries this morning in our shorts and tank tops. Ahh... the start of something good! Tonight we'll have our usual "first day of strawberry season" meal... large bowls of strawberry shortcake (usually pound cake with strawberries and loads of whip cream) as our main dish! The kids look forward to this every year. We picked 4 large containers today. We'll share some with friends tomorrow and take a basket to their teachers on Monday. I bet the rest don't last long! We love fresh strawberries!
